An annular solar eclipse will occur on June 21, 2020. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth.

How about visibility to Sri Lanka

The annular solar eclipse of 2020 will be visible to Sri Lanka as a partial eclipse which will occur simultaneously with this year’s summer solstice on Sunday.

The Annular Solar Eclipse is going to happen on Sunday, 21 June 2020 and it will be very interesting to all of you.
This is a partial solar eclipse to Sri Lankan sky, and it begins on Sunday, 21 June 2020 at 10:24:52 am. Maximum Eclipse, which the moon is closest to the center of the Sun will be at 11:54:39 am with a magnitude of 0.35.
The end, that the Moon leaves the Sun’s edge will be at 13:30:41 pm and the total visible duration of this Annular Solar Eclipse is 3 hours and 6 minutes.


  • People must refrain from looking directly in to the sun.
  • Please use sun glasses and sunglasses with special filters to observe the eclipse
